Little victory

Every now and then I suffer from creative angst. Artistic jitters. While I enjoy challenging myself in my work - and have done so numerous times - there are things that simply seem too intimidating.
Those of you who know me and my eternal love for cats, might have wondered why there haven't been any feline "Vagabond Strays". I take care of two ginger tabby boys myself, and they are such a huge part of my existence. They are my buddies, my anchors. Ever since my 4th birthday when I was given my first ginger kitten, those orange fur balls have had a prominent place in my home and in my heart. I can not imagine my life without cats.

But the cat.. I suppose is my creative nemesis. To me, cats (big and small) are the epitome of nature's perfection - sublime creatures that I could *never* do justice. And that is the reason why I never even attempted to make one. Until this week.
Because I became so tired of ignoring a long lingering and very vivid idea in my head that seriously was too fun to let go of, and it could ONLY be done with a cat! (any cat person will understand)
And then I finally realized that it wasn't about trying to capture that elusive feline magnificence at all, but instead just a quirky tribute to all cats' "raison d'être": the cardboard box. So that is what I made 😊

(Of course it had to be a ginger tabby. His name is Catkins, my prototype and trailblazer for a new family of "Vagabond Strays" Cats-in-a-Box to come!)

Hello!

My name is Zo, and I'm endlessly fascinated with all things small: dolls, animals, miniatures, dioramas..
I feel very fortunate to be able to combine them all in my work!
Sewing doll clothes and bringing little critters to life allows me to do what I love every day - and connects me with some really amazing people all over the world.
